Whatever the task,

• Get that spreadsheet working
• Set up that data base
• Code that extract file
• Write that requirements specification
• Put the user manuals on the intranet
• ...Whatever today's post threw at you

there comes a point when you just need someone to do it. Preferably someone with no distractions, no political points to make, nothing but a task list that says DO THIS.

Given the option though, it would be nice to know that the person put on the task was a fairly seasoned professional who has seen similar things from all sides of the fence. Someone experienced enough to see a danger sign and flag it up, but mature enough to know that sometimes you just have to find a way to work round problems, even if in theory you shouldn't need to.

We certainly would, which is why those are the sort of people we aim to put on your project when you ask us. After all it's your job and our reputation that are at stake here, and you don't get much more important that that.
